Stanly Co. kids have nothing to do that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Not only is the Stanly Co.Fair Too EXPENSIVE For family's with 2-3 kids. The Badin Festival's blow up bouncy thingies cost too much per.ride $1.00 X 2 or 3,4 tickets per ride.(not really rides but bouncy thingies) I have to tell my kids.'' I can't afford any more rides." but they don't understand..Kids fun should cheap or at least not so expensive. This includes the not for profit YMCA @ $170.00 for up to grade 5, $195.00 grade 6-12,and $854.00 for family Memberships PLUS $150.00 Endowment fee.And we ask why our kids get into drugs, teen sex, lawlessness,AND DIE in car wrecks.WAKE UP Stanly Co. our kids are our future and they look after us when we get too old to do so.

I agree the YMCA fees are outrageous. I am not sure how the liability insurance plays into those fees, but suspect it does.
Our children need more access to the YMCA just like the reason it was founded.
Having family fun does not have to be expensive. Parks are free. Children love to play! Take them to the park, pack a sandwich and drink, play and then eat. Family fun is what children really want. Playing with a ball in your own yard can provide family fun.
If you promote children's belief that fun has to be bought, then you are correct: fun is expensive.

My problem with the Y is it gets by with calling itself a non-profit, but anyone can see it exist fo profit.
This is why I have a difficult time supporting the United Way of Stanly County, and direct contribute to the charities of my choice.
Why should my donation go to support an organization that I cannot afford to join?

You can still donate to the United Way without having any of your money go to the Y. You can make a donation to the United Way and specify the charity you want your money to go directly to. I do know what you mean about the Y not being affordable to the average person. I do know several Pastors and their families in this area that are members. What does that tell ya?
